OIL AND GAS TODAY: The Magic Wand of IoT

Updated: Nov 21, 2022

In a world where the largest producers of oil in Europe are embattled, there is an uprising in the need for consistent Oil supply.

Russia alone produces over 10.5 million barrels of oil per day, so they obviously are one of the big dogs in the business of oil provision for the world. However, in the case where they are dealing with sanctions from the European Union (EU), it affects the whole world in one way or another.

Even though Russia is unable to transport oil to British ports, they can transport via rail; however, there is a limit to the amount they can transport at a time. To that effect, the World Supply of Oil has been cut shut.

On the brighter side, Africa can come through for the world with the help of the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT solutions are designed to upscale your business by preserving storage, managing distribution, and maximizing retail purposes in the Oil and Gas industry.

With these solutions, Africa can produce more Oil and distribute it more effectively across the world. Yes, we will be selling more oil, but most importantly, we would be proffering solutions to problems.

IoT Solutions have the potential to boost productivity in a wide array of ways, and some of them include;

  • Oil & Gas Condition Monitoring: IoT allows us to automate monitoring, measurements and processes, even in remote areas. With this solution, you can remotely monitor and maintain critical oilfield assets, prevent downtime and make informed decisions with the data generated. The Condition Monitoring Solution ultimately reduces inefficiency.

  • Flow Meters: This device measures the amount of fluid (liquid, gas or vapour) moving through a pipe; but why is it so important? A flow measurement error of just 0.02% (more or less), can result in the loss of up to 68 barrels of oil per day.

  • Smart Pressure Transmitters: The Pressure Transmitter remotely monitors pressure at different checkpoints. The smart device utilizes the world’s most advanced mono-crystalline silicon pressure sensor and patented encapsulation technology; which provides robust resistance to chemical exposures, mechanical loads, and EMI.

Let's get on the IoT bandwagon, and upscale our Oil and Gas industry, shall we?
